Among the Last Quiet Places on Earth
The Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness in south-central Montana has been named one of the “last remaining places of natural quiet” by the Noise Pollution Clearinghouse. Here, you’ll also find Granite Peak, Montana's highest point at 12,799 feet. According to the U.S. Forest Service, this area is known for “grasshopper glaciers,” described as glaciers containing millions of grasshoppers frozen in ice. Add it to your quiet travel plans this year and enjoy the peace.
